Nabunturan PWDs trained on producing personal care products


NABUNTURAN, Compostela Valley Province, May 21 (PIA) – Technology training on soap, shampoo and dishwashing liquid making has recently benefited some 41 Persons with Disability from 24 barangays here.

The PWDs received the technology training on personal care products from the Provincial Science and Technology Center (PSTC) of the Department of Science and Technology XI (DOST-XI) in Compostela Valley Province.

The participants were taught of the procedures and methods on producing bath and laundry soap, shampoo and dishwashing liquid.

Resource speaker Darius F. dela Cerna of DOST XI provided lectures and demonstration, and later required the PWD-participants to undergo hands-on activity to experience the actual method of the personal care products making.  

The DOST-XI training was in partnership with the Municipal Social Welfare and Development (MSWD) office of the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Nabunturan, aiming to provide livelihood opportunity for the PWDs.

DOST-XI and the MSWDO were hopeful that the participants would adopt the technology to produce their own personal care merchandises for their livelihood, and eventually would become entrepreneurs in the future.  

The PWD-participants came from the following Barangays: San Isidro, Anislagan, Manat, Mainit, Sasa, Mipangi, Pangutusan, Sta. Maria, Poblacion, Antequera, Basak, Bayabas, Cabidianan, Katipunan, Linda, Magading, Magsaysay, Matilo, New Sibunga, Ogao, Kao, Tagnucon and Bukal. (DOST-XI)
