COMVAL Receives Various Intervention Projects from DA


Compostela Valley – Department of Agriculture Secretary Proceso J. Alcala announced several intervention projects in the province during his official visit to the province last May 15.The Secretary had had a Farmers consultation attended by more than 2,000 farmers and fisher folks at the Assumption College of Nabunturan gymnasium.  

During his visit to the capitol Alcala and his team was warmly welcomed by Governor Arturo T. Uy, First District Congresswoman Maricar Apsay, 2nd District Congressman Rommel C. Amatong, Sannguniang Panlalawigan Officials, Municipal Mayors in the province and capitol department heads.In his message, the Secretary informed the people that the budget allotted for Mindanao has been augmented from the usual 12-15% before to 40% at present because the President believe that Mindanaoan’s are best project implementers.

Among the various intervention projects turned over to Governor Uy for the different municipalities of Compostela Valley included the P13.325 million one-lane RCDG Bridge at Lower ULip Monkayo, 24 units power sprayer, P2 million worth of diversion dam at Tubo-TUbo Monkayo, P2.5 million Spring Development Project at Barangay Cambaratic Mabini, P1.7 million Diversion Dam at Mipangi Nabunturan, P180,000 worth of Multi-Purpose Drying Pavement each for Mawab, Gabi Compostela and Kidawa Laak, P650,000 flatbed Mechanical Dryer in Barangay Libasan Nabunturan, P850,000 4-wheel drive farm tractor, 3 units of P300,000 worth of Power Tiller with Bed Maker, 3,000 pcs.

Assorted propagated seedlings, 20 units knapsack sprayers, 2 units of 16 horsepower motor boat, 25 heads farm goats, 1 power trailer, 5 heads of carabaos, 2 units of rice thresher and a lot more.Said intervention support are for vegetable enhancement program, high value crops development program, Agri-Pinoy Rice Program and other programs for agricultural development of the province.

Alcala also mentioned that his group is also eying for a potential traders center which will become the trader center of the province.

A  sectoral consultation was also conducted between the different representatives of the rice, corn, HVCDP, livestock and fishery sector  with Secretary Alcala which pave way to the airing of different issues and concern involving its sector. (Rodielyn A. Manugas-IDS COMVAL)
