1,500 residents of Brgy Magwawa benefits government’s health and social services


Province of Davao del Norte - The efforts of the Provincial Government of Davao del Norte, AFP/ PNP, and the Municipal Government of Sto. Tomas had brought the government right to the door of Barangay Magwawa, Sto Tomas, Davao del Norte on, May 11, 2012.

Residents of the barangay flocked at Magwawa Elementary School where the offices of the local government unit converged and delivered health, livelihood assistance and other social services to the marginalized community of the far-flung barangay.

Services offered were Medical and Dental, Minor Surgery, Malaria Case Finding, ‘Tutok Kubeta’, Nutrition Feeding, Skin ‘Kutis Kilatis’, Red Cop, Free Lugaw, Slippers for Day Care Children, Educational Materials, Libreng Gupit (PSWDO and AFP), PNP Consultation and Issuance of Police Clearance, Distribution of Vegetables and fruit tree seedlings Animal Health Services, Legal Consultation services of Local Civil Registrar, Philhealth, Medical Check-up, Free Medicine, and others.

The Brgy Captain of Magwawa, Hon Petronilo Dejarme expressed his gratitude in behalf of his constituents for the free services given to them, especially the pledges of support by the Provincial, Municipal and City Government, AFP and PNP on the issues and concern of his barangay such as Portable Water, Basketball Covered court, Bridge, Health Center, Main Road to Davao City, Clear the Boundary of Sto Tomas to Davao City, and School Renovation.

Mayor Maximo M Estela assured to facilitate and work on the solutions for the problems of the barangay and bring up other concerns to the Provincial Engineer’s Office to address the issues on major infra-structure projects, especially with regard to Bridge.

Col. Lysander Suerte , Commander, 1003rd Brigade, commends the cooperation and the stakeholder’s untiring participation to help the constituents of far-flung barangays like Magwawa, and expressed his whole-hearted gratitude for the warm acceptance by the residents.

COL SUERTE added that the AFP will continue to facilitate in securing and nurturing peaceful communities through developmental efforts in coordination with Local Government units, Line Government Agencies and all proponents of peace and goodwill.


Governor Rodolfo del Rosario, expressed his appreciation of the convergence team as he emphasized the unity of the people in the continuing quest for peace and development. “We are all brothers and sisters, we must love ourselves because we are Filipinos, and I know that God will bless us!” (10th ID PA)
