DA Secretary Alcala meets ComVal Farmers


COMPOSTELA VALLEY PROVINCE-----Department Secretary of Agriculture Proceso J. Alcala paid a visit to the province last May 15, 2012 and had a dialogue with the officials led by Governor Arturo T.

Uy during a working lunch held at the Provincial Capitol.He then proceeded to the ACN Gymnasium in Poblacion Nabunturan for a Farmers Consultation and Farmers’ Field School Mass Graduation of more than a thousand farmers.He was warmly welcomed by the local officials, heads of national agencies, Agriculture Program Coordinators, farmers, growers, producers, fisherfolks, members of Rural Improvement Club, 4-H Club, Irrigators’ Association, and other guests.

Other activities were the turn-over ceremonies of DA Production Support, MRDP Project & BSWM Funded Project, and the Sectoral Consultation (Rice, Corn, HVCDP, Livestock and Fishery Sectors).Secretary Alcala has graced several activities of many other provinces nationwide and targets to visit more provinces in the coming months purposely to address the needs and concerns of the farmers, fisherfolks, and the local officials.

His department spearheads the nationwide observance of the Farmers’ and Fisherfolks’ Month in the whole month of May.  As its share the province of Compostela Valley has joined the celebration through the conduct of a livestock technology and Negosyong Pinoy Caravan for the livestock farmers.  (grace almedilla, ids-comval)
