ComVal readies 9th GK Bayani Challenge

NABUNTURAN, Compostela Valley Province, May 6 – Soon to rise in Brgy. San Antonio , Mabini of Compostela Valley is a village to be called the “Ang Bag-ong Malambuong Mabini Uswag GK Village.”

Few weeks after the province contributed in rebuilding Sendong typhoon-stricken Iligan City by turning over a small village with 24 Gawad Kalinga (GK) houses to Iligan Mayor Lawrence Cruz, ComVal is now set for its 9th USWAG GK Bayani Challenge slated on May 8-15, 2012.

Targeting to build 28 houses, the provincial government lead by Governor Arturo T. Uy will embark on the ten houses while the rest will be taken cared of by other volunteer-builders and partners.

Soon to follow of hosting a GK Build will be the municipality of Mawab to complete Governor Uy’s target of putting-up USWAG GK Villages to all the province’s municipalities.

The spirit of volunteerism and bayanihan has been a culture and a way of life for the ComValenyos, making every endeavor easier to achieve by the province.
To date, nine out of the 11 municipalities have GK Villages already with Mabini soon to be the 10th. (IDS-Comval/Grace Almedilla)
