P1.1M worth projects completed in Army’s dev’t. outreach areas

LUPON, Davao Oriental, May 9 – The bayanihan efforts of the Provincial Government of Davao Oriental, the Philippine Army and the locals paid off as P1.1M worth of infrastructure projects were recently completed.

Two barangay health stations valued at P500,000 each, and a rehabilitated and improved water system were completed and turned-over to the communities of said province.

The projects were funded by the Provincial Government headed by Governor Corazon Malanyaon and the office of Congresswoman Thelma Almario of District 2.

1Lt. Hermie Montelibano, Civil Military Operations Officer of 28th Infantry Battalion, said the recently turned-over projects were among the health projects completed through bayanihan efforts of the soldiers deployed in the barangay and the people benefiting the socio-economic infrastructures.

“The Provincial Office, District 2 Congress and Department of Health (DOH) financed these projects identified in our Rapid Needs Assessment Report and consultation with the community leaders,” Montelibano said.

He said that Provincial Health Officer Dr. Joy Sanico provided the plan for the two Health Stations for Brgy. Ilangay in Lupon, and Brgy. Maag in San Isidro , all of Davao Oriental.

“We deeply appreciate the initiative of Lt. Col. Leopoldo Imbang in providing us manpower support. The delay of implementation was only due to insufficient funding to meet the labor cost,” Sanico said.

“Masonry, carpentry, and plumbing services were provided by the 28IB troops for free. The efforts of these soldiers greatly contributed to the implementation of the Provincial Health Programs,” she added.

Barangay Captain Aldren Daganato of New Visayas, Lupon said that 30 households also benefited from the 28th IB’s Peace and Development Outreach Program (PDOP).

“1Lt. Francisco Lingat and 1Lt. Montelibano, with their soldiers in my barangay together with my people, were able to complete the rehabilitation and improvement of the water system at Purok 4, New Visayas in Lupon,” Daganato said.

“Truly, the soldiers nowadays, promote the true bayanihan spirit in our community.  We never thought that projects can come so easy with them,” he added.

“Our gratitude to the 28th IB and our government will never cease. They have always been sincere in delivering basic social services in Brgy. Ilangay and in the entire province,” stated Sani Hanani, barangay captain of Ilangay.

Barangay Captain Arnel C. Guadalquiver of Maag also expressed his appreciation for the military’s untiring support and great contribution on the joint undertakings in the completion and success of their Health Station.

He believed that it addresses the needs of the beneficiaries and further will encourage the people to work together as one.

“The realization of such project was made possible by the tremendous support of our Provincial and Congressional leaders and the active participation of the Barangay Officials and communities in addressing the issues,” said 28th IB Commander Lt. Col. Leopoldo Imbang Jr.

“The solution of several issues in a community requires convergence of efforts with the different Government agencies and the community itself in the pursuit of Peace and Development,” he stated. (CMO-25th IB)
