Presidente Aquino girepaso ang plano sa BOC nga abrehan ang balikbayan box

Nakigtagbo si Presidente Benigno S. Aquino III sa mga nag-unang opisyales sa Bureau of Customs’ (BOC) kabahin sa plano niini nga magpahigayon sa ‘random inspection’ sa mga kahon sa mga balikbayan, nga miaanig daghang batikos gikan sa mga overseas Filipino worker (OFW).

Gilayon gitawagan sa Presidente sila si Finance Secretary Cesar Purisima ug BOC Commissioner Bert Lina, aron repasohon ang maong plano sa iyang paghidangat sa Manila gikan sa Cebu, diin siya gi-interbiyu sa media.

“Ang nag-unang katuyoan niini mao nga makatabang kini sa atong kampanya batok sa ilegal nga droga,” pulong pa sa Presidente.

“Usab, atong nahibaw-an nga daghan na ang nagpayuhot sa mga bala ug pusil pinaagi sa mga padala gikan sa laing nasud,” ang Presidente nagkanayon.

“Gani adunay mga kaso nga gibungkag ang mga motorsiko, kanang gitawag nga mga ‘big bikes’ nga gisulod sa lain-laing karton aron lamang makalikay pagbayad sa buhis,” pasabut sa Presidente. (PIA)

CHED mihangyo sa eskwelahan sa kolehiyo dili pasagdang mahanaw ang ‘social science’



Gihangyo ni Commission on Higher Education (CHED) Chairperson Patricia Licuanan ang mga ‘higher education institution’ kun mga eskwelahan sa kolehiyo nga dili pasagdang mahanaw ang natad sa ‘social science’ sa ilang mga programa. 

Gihimo ni Licuanan ang hangyo atol sa duha ka adlaw nga ‘Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) High-Level Policy Dialogue on Science and Technology in Higher Education,’ nga gipahigayon sa Philippine International Convention Center (PICC), bag-ohay pa lamang.

Matud pa ni Licuanan, gumikan sa kakulang sa panudlanan ug sa ‘K to 12 basic education program,’ pipila sa mga unibersidad sa Pilipinas ang mipakunhod sa ilang mga programa, lakip na sa mga importanteng departamento nga nahimong biktima sa mga kausaban nga ilang gipatuman.

Palasyo wala nabalaka sa ‘Zero Remittance Day’ sa mga OFWs karong biyernes

Davao Sur electric coop spearheads tree planting and coastal clean-up



DIGOS CITY, Davao del Sur, Aug. 27 – The Davao del Sur Electric Cooperative (Dasureco), the lone power distributor in the province, spearheaded a tree planting activity and clean-up drive at the coastal areas of Barangay Aplaya here early Wednesday morning.

Dasureco general manager Engr. Godofredo Guya, who led other cooperative officials and employees, said that the activity was in connection with the celebration of the National Electrification Awareness Month.

“The event was a result of Dasureco's commitment towards environmental protection and management as well as the desire to enjoin the people to embark in the same pursuit,” Guya said.

Participants in the clean-up drive arrived at the coastal area as early as 4 a.m. Wednesday to plant mangrove trees and gather solid wastes in efforts to help protect picnic goers from stepping up on sharp objects.

Guya said the event was also participated by residents of Barangay Aplaya, and members of Dasureco-affiliated associations. (CDIO-Magsaysay/Anthony S. Allada)

Davao Regional Hospital now a medical center



Davao del Norte, August 27 (PIA) - - The Davao Regional Hospital (DRH) in Brgy. Apokon Tagum City is now Davao Regional Medical Center (DRMC).

Davao del Norte 1st District Representative Anthony del Rosario revealed earlier today during Blessing and Inauguration of the new facilities of the DRMC that President Benigno Aquino III signed yesterday Republic Act 10678 converting DRH to a medical center.

Congressman Del Rosario said that among the features of the new law is the increase of the bed capacity of DRMC from 200 to 600 beds.

Senator Toefisto Guingona III emphasized that the since the medical center will have more responsibility in which it will cater to any kind of disease or affliction that may affect Mindanao, DRMC will receive more funding than what it has for the moment.

DRMC Chief Romulo Busuego disclosed that the budget of the center for this year is at around P32-million in its maintenance and other operating expenses.

Congressman Del Rosario also stressed that as of today, the Davao Region is the only region in the country that has two medical centers – DRMC and the Southern Philippines Medical Center in Davao City.

Dr. Busuego said that the two medical centers will not compete with each other instead they will complement with different specialization.

“We don’t have to compete because we are not into business; we are providing services to our people. Since they have their heart center, we are developing here our cancer center,” Busuego said.

Panabo job matching facilitates employment of 2,094



Davao del Norte, August 27 (PIA) - - More than 2,000 Panaboans acquired employment through the job matching activities of the Panabo Employment Services Office (PESO).

Through barangay visitation, the PESO facilitated the placement of a total 2,094 Panaboans to different local companies since 2012.

PESO Manager Cherelle Espinosa emphasized that their office have been joining the celebration of the charter days of the barangays since 2009 to conduct job matching activity and to disseminate their other services like skills training and Special Recruitment Activity (SRA) schedule of recruitment agencies.

“Aside from joining the araw ng mga barangay, we also hold job matching activities upon request of the community,” Espinosa said.

Data from the PESO reported that since 2012, the city government handled 103 job matching activities.

 Espinosa stressed that the job matching activity is part of the employment facilitation services of PESO Panabo City.

“But instead of waiting for the applicants to come in our office, we make it more accessible and easier for them by holding the activity at their community,” she said. (PIA11, Michael Uy)
