University of the Philippines-Mindanao will hold its
annual Kasadya Christmas lantern parade this Friday, December 12.
The public is invited to witness the lantern parade which
will be held on the theme of "Pamayanang Nagkakaisa, Paskong
Masaya!".
The assembly time for participants and their lanterns is
4:00 p.m. at the Plaza Pag-asa near the Kalimudan student center.
The Kasadya parade will commence around 5:00 p.m. when
the daylight fades and the lights will illuminate the lanterns.
The parade will culminate in the Administration Building
Atrium where the lanterns will be installed in line. Each lantern will be
individually introduced in the program. The Enhanced Christmas Caroling Contest
will also be featured in the program.
Last December 5, U.P. Mindanao held its the Building
Decoration Contest and judging and the Pa-ilaw ceremonial lighting of the
university Christmas tree. Chancellor Sylvia Concepcion, and vice chancellors
Karen Cayamanda and Antonio Obsioma gave their respective Christmas messages.
The event culminated in a Pagpanaygon Christmas carol
serenade by the Koro Kantahanay and the contribution of donations from
constituents for the six day care centers in Mintal and Bago Oshiro barangays.
