"After
the years of instituting reforms, the Department of Labor and Employment has
become more relevant to the challenges of times and more felt by the
people."
This
is the message of DOLE Davao Regional Director Joffrey M. Suyao during the
opening of the 2014 DOLE Anniversary Job Fair in Abreeza Mall.
The
anniversary job fair is the highlight of the 81st Anniversary celebration in
Davao region along with the other activities of its attached agencies.
This
year's celebration bears the theme: Higit pa sa Tagumpay at Reporma, ang DOLE
mas makabuluhan, mas Nadarama.
"We
believe have introduced relevant reforms that will help us in fulfilling the
mandate of the DOLE. Now is the time to see that our people are benefiting from
our programs," Suyao said.
"We
also thank the support of Regional Coordinating Committee including NLRC, OWWA,
PRC, NRCO, ECC, POEA, RTWPB and NCMB-XI," Suayo added.
At
the opening gates of the job fair, a total of 13,707 jobs were offered by 55
local companies and 28 overseas agencies.
At
the national level, Labor and Employment Secretary Rosalinda Dimapilis-Baldoz
is set to recognize the outstanding performance of the DOLE regional offices,
its personnel and attached agencies.
"We
have all been through a lot in the past years and I know how hard we have been
working to ensure that the Department’s goals are met. We recognize that our
team have consistently achieved, and often exceeded, our expectation. Such high
performance must not go unnoticed,” Baldoz said.
Aside
from employment facilitation, this year the DOLE has introduced the development
approach to compliance of labor laws through the Labor Laws Compliance System
(LLCS).It has also spearheaded the improvement of labor and management relation
and industrial peace through the convergence of DOLE and attached agencies.
The
DOLE has also strengthened protection of the vulnerable sector by providing
them self-employment and emergency employment though the DOLE Integrated
livelihood and emergency employment Program (DILEEP). (Sherwin B. Manual/DOLE
