R-XI LGUS told to align with Davao region’s development plan



TAGUM CITY, Davao del Norte, Dec 5 (PIA)  Governor Rodolfo del Rosario of Davao del Norte, chair of the Regional Development Council 11  urged local government units to align their development plans to the regional development plan to ensure inclusive growth of all sectors in Davao Region.

Speaking in the roadshow on the updated Davao Regional Development Plan 2014-16, he said that local government unit participation is crucial in bringing down incidents of poverty in their respective localities.

Del Rosario said the updated RDP is the embodiment and spatial direction that Davao Region must pursue in its continuing effort to attain inclusive growth to create massive employment, reduce poverty among Filipinos and achieve the Millennium Development Goals.

He said the plan also takes into account the forthcoming ASEAN economic integration next year that will open doors to more opportunities and challenges for the region.

“This plan is a living document that affirms the Regional Development Council’s commitment to coordinate all efforts in pursuit of Davao Region’s development agenda through the judicious utilization of natural resources and strong collaboration of government and the people,” Del Rosario said.

He recalled that the RDC 11 crafted the development plan that is people focused to achieve inclusive growth is shared by all Davaoenos and leaves no one behind.

Del Rosario said the implementation of the updated RDP is crucial in the local level and the involvement of the ordinary people is important in the realization of the plan.

“I urge everyone to advocate the plan to the widest spectrum of society,” he said.

Ma. Lourdes Lim, director of the National Economic and Development Authority 11 stressed poverty reduction is important to ensure inclusive growth.

She said the RDP is anchored on good governance where the poor sector as the center of the plan.

Lim said the plan aims to address poverty in all its dimensions in Davao Region.

“The plan also aims to make Davao Region and its local government units as key players in the ASEAN economic community,” she said.

Lim also thanked all sectors from the governors, legislative representatives down to the academe in giving inputs in setting the plan. (PIA 11-Joey Sem G. Dalumpines)
