Island Garden City of Samal, December 18, 2014 - For achieving the highest Repayment
Rate, Highest Sustainability Rate of beneficiary cooperatives and their
livelihood activities and Highest Number of Replication under the Fisherfolks’
Livelihood Enhancement Project (FLEP),the Davao Integrated Development Program
(DIDP) awarded Island Garden City of Samal a Plaque of Recognition during the
DIDP – Integrated Food Security Program( IFSP) Year End Conference at the
Apo View Hotel, Davao City last December 8.
Compared to other local governments in Region XI, Island Garden
City of Samal achieved 87% repayment rate (based on the original
funds released by DIDP), 85 % sustainability rate of beneficiary cooperatives
and their livelihood activities and 80% on the highest Number of Replication
rate under the Fisherfolks’Livelihood Enhancement Project, one of DIDP major
program component.
IGaCoS was also given a plaque of appreciation for the
support to DIDP-IFSP projects and continued support and cooperation to the
various program, projects and activities of DIDP-Project Management
Office.
“The Davao Integrated Development Program- Local Project
Management Office (DIDP-LPMO) regularly conducts field visit to various
projects of the DIDP- Integrated Food Security Program areas where we met the
beneficiaries and listened to their problems and issues. The LPMO also
meet every week to tackle problems and concerns of the beneficiaries and other
DIDP various programs”, City Planning & Development Officer and DIDP-LPMO
Coordinator Engr. Mario Pacaldo said.
Pacaldo said that personal encounter and openness with
beneficiaries resulted to better relationship and proven helpful in the
successful implementation of all the DIDP Projects.
The DIDP-LPMO of IGaCoS chaired by City Mayor Aniano P. Antalan
was grateful and appreciative on the recognition to the achievements and
accomplishments of IGaCoS LPMO in the implementation of the various program
components of DIDP which helped spurred development to the island city since
its implementation in 1999 up to present.
Currently, various DIDP Integrated Food Security Programs
implemented in IGaCoS directly benefitting less fortunate farmers and
fisherfolks in the island includes Farm to Market Road, Fisherfolk Livelihood
Enhancement Project, Alternative Livelihood Development Program,
Agro-Processing Promotion Project and Upland Farmers Model Village
Program.
Other members of the DIDP-Local Project Management Office are
City Legal Officer Atty. Rosemarie Garde, City Engineer Darwin S. Arig, City
Agriculturist Engr. Ana Lea Zapanta, City Accountant Gladys P. Hurano,
City Investment and Tourism Officer Jennifer D. Carriaga, City Budget Officer
Jemelita Camaso, City Treasurer Merlina Caballero, Project Engr. Eric Palacio
