Pres. Aquino enjoins soldiers to do what is right

President Benigno S. Aquino lII has called on members of the military to shun corruption and instead do their duties well for the benefit of the entire country.

"Sa ating kasundaluhan: Huwag sana ninyong kalilimutang sa bawat panahon, obligasyon ninyong gawin ang tama at makatuwiran," the President said in his speech during the 79th Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) Day held Thursday (Dec. 18) in Camp General Emilio Aguinaldo in Quezon City.

"Huwag kayong magpapadala sa tukso o magpapakaladkad sa sinumang nagbabalak na ilihis tayo sa tuwid na landas. Nalalapit na po ang 2016, at alam naman po natin na sa panahon ng halalan, talagang may mga magpupumilit pa ring gamitin kayo para sa pansariling interes."

Soldiers, he said, are mandated by the people to ensure an orderly and peaceful election.

“Inaasahan ang inyong hanay na manatili sa panig ng taumbayan,” he said.

President Aquino also noted that while it is a challenge for soldiers to be away from their families, especially during the Christmas season, they draw their strength from knowing that their fellow countrymen are safe during the holidays.

"Sa ngalan ng sambayanan, maraming salamat sa inyong paglilingkod," the President said, expressing his gratitude to the uniformed men and women of the AFP. (PCOO News Release)
