New minimum wage adjustment takes effect in December 1



DAVAO CITY, Nov 28 (PIA) Labor and Employment director Atty Jeoffrey Suyao of Davao Region announced the effectivity of the P5 cost of living allowance for all minimum-wage workers on December 1, 2014.

He said the new Cola is part of the second tranche of minimum wage adjustment due to the implementation of the Wage Order No. 18 in June 1 raising the pay to P312 for non-agriculture, and P302 for the agriculture sector, P312 for service or retail merchandise employing ten or more workers and P281 for those employing less that ten workers.

Suyao said the new cola adjustment will adjust the pay to P317 per day for non-agricultural sector, P307 per day for the agricultural sector, service or retail industries employing ten or more workers at P317 and P286 for those employing less than ten employees.

“I urge the employers to implement the new wage adjustment that will serve as our Christmas gift to our workers,” he said.

Suyao also reminded the employers to pay the workers their thirteenth-month pay not later than December 24 of each year. (PIA 11-Joey Sem G. Dalumpines)
