ANTI-TRAFFICKING SUMMIT SET

The Inter-Agency Council Against Trafficking (IACAT) and the Visayan Forum Foundation conducted the 2014 CSO Summit on Combating Human Trafficking at Apo View Hotel, Davao City. The event was the final leg of the summit series held in Manila and Iloilo.

The summit aimed at intensifying the fight to end modern slavery by mainstreaming innovations of different stakeholders in addressing vulnerabilities to human trafficking. The summit served as a platform for civil society to inform stakeholders with better evidence of effective policies and programs through sharing of anti-trafficking interventions in on-the-ground development programs.

The summit featured a vibrant, conversational and collaborative format of interaction that includes several streams of discussions, innovation exhibits and speedgeeking activities.

Director Priscilla N. Razon of DSWD discussed innovations in implementing the DSWD Protection, Recovery, Rehabilitation and Reintegration Program for Trafficked Persons. Director Razon emphasized the importance of coordination and collaborative efforts in the protection and full recovery of trafficking victims-survivors. “The Department of Social Welfare and Development Region XI is committed to sustain a responsive anti-trafficking program for victims-survivors along protection, recovery, rehabilitation and reintegration in coordination with IACAT XI member organizations.” (DSWD)
