CENRO personnel warned anew against soliciting funds during the holidays

DAVAO CITY, Dec 9 (PIA) The City Environment and Natural Resources Office discouraged anew its personnel particularly the garbage collectors and street-sweepers from soliciting cash and gifts during the holidays.

Dolly Remojo, assistant city environment and natural resources officer said Cenro personnel must do their respective jobs accordingly without expecting valuable things in return.

She said Cenro workers have their corresponding salaries and bonuses from the government.

Remojo said the workers can only accept gifts if they are voluntarily given by residents.

“We just have to be honest.  It is not really bad if they receive something from the residents as long as any gift is given voluntarily,” she said.

Remojo recalled that in 2014, several persons were charged for mulcting when they used the name of the office in soliciting funds also during the holidays.

She said those charged turned out to be only disguising themselves as workers of the Cenro.

Remojo urged the residents to cooperate and to report to the nearest police station any attempt to do solicitation using the Cenro.  (PIA 11-Joey Sem G. Dalumpines)
