Pearl Farm Beach Resort lights up its Parola for Christmas

DAVAO CITY, Dec 18 (PIA) Pearl Farm Beach resort, a premiere tourist destination in Davao Region formally lighted its Parola to usher in the Christmas celebration Tuesday night in the Island Garden City of Samal.

The theme of the 2014 Christmas celebration is One Love for Christmas.

The lighting of the Parola was preceded with a mass, then a short program followed with the Christmas carols sung by University of the Philippines-Mindanao Choir and the breaking of the bread.

Josu Mikel Villaverde, general manager of the Pearl Farm Beach Resort took pride of the Parola as an iconic symbol for Davao Region as affirmed by the Department of Tourism.

He said Parola is a Spanish word adopted by the Filipinos which originally means as light house.

Villaverde recalled that traditionally the Parola at the Pearl Farm had been serving as a light-house even before it was converted into a resort.

“The Parola serves different purposes as time goes by from being a restaurant to being a main gate by the sea,” he said.

Villaverde said they are currently conceptualizing new rooms to accommodate more visitors now and in the future.  (PIA 11-Joey Sem G. Dalumpines)
