DAVAO CITY- The 10th
Mindanao Film Festival will feature films that tackle the environment and
climate change.
To be held this December 3-9 at
Gaisano Mall Cinema, the festival will screen about 68 films from all across
Mindanao.
The film program titled “Nagbago na
ang Panahon” (Times have changed) is composed of documentaries,
live-action short films and animated shorts that tackle climate change issues.
Among these films include Lugdang
from Cagayan de Oro, Hope in the Garden and Pangindahay from Compostela
Valley, Abiso from Zamboanga City and Paraiso from Davao.
“Lugdang “ is a story of college
classmates searching for their missing classmate in the aftermath of typhoon
Sendong, “Hope in the Garden” is a documentary of a school in Nabunturan who
creates a garden in the hope of inspiring others to help in restoring mother
nature.
“Pangindahay” is a tale of two
siblings orphaned after their parents were killed during the onslaught of
typhoon Pablo, “Paraiso” is a documentary that centers around the famous
environmental song composed by Ryan Cayabyab. “Abiso” is an animated short
about the typhoon Yolanda.
The film is screened with the
support of the Philippine Information Agency-XI under their joint climate
change advocacy campaign in conjunction the Department of Environment and
