Investment ombudsman program in Davao to be launched this 2015



DAVAO CITY, Dec 15 (PIA) Deputy Ombudsman for Mindanao Rodolfo Elman announced the creation of an investment ombudsman program to respond to complaints filed by local and foreign investors.

He said the new office is headed by Ombudsman Corazon Arancon.

Elman said the Ombudsman for investor will look into mulcting, solicitation and undue delay in acting investors’ concerns by people in government.

“We act on any kind of complaint.  We gather pieces of evidence on malpractices reported on the paper, and verify this information. We act on any complaint, more so, pertaining to investment activities, because of the need for us to encourage investments and to improve our global competitiveness by taking prompt action on grievances of investors,” he said at the Kapehan sa SM.

Elman said most of the complaints received by the investment ombudsman’s office ranges from solicitation activities, undue delay in the processing of documents and other violations of the anti-corrupt and graft practices act.

He said that this program will be launched in Davao Region in the first quarter of 2015.

Elman said the investment ombudsman program had been opened recently in Cebu City where a dialogue with investors was conducted to clarify the program.  (PIA 11-Joey Sem G. Dalumpines)
