Mati tops NCC’s BPLS Survey

MATI CITY, Davao Oriental, November 27, 2014 – The 2014 Customer Experience Survey Result by the National Competitiveness Council (NCC), formerly known as Public-Private Sector Task Force on Philippine Competitiveness, shows that, with the satisfaction score of 7.13, the City of Mati tops in Region XI, followed by Davao City with 6.45, to have been compliant with Business Permits and Licensing System (BPLS).

The framework of the BPLS is based on the American Customer Satisfaction Index (ACSI), a customer-based measurement system for evaluating and enhancing a performance. A set of indicators such as customer’s expectations, perceived quality, perceived value for money and overall satisfaction comprise the BPLS index or score. Thus, the survey, conducted in January 13 to February 14, 2014, assesses the experience and determines the satisfaction level of businessmen in their respective local government units.

Building local competitiveness is critical to enhancing long-term national competitiveness. In pursuit of this goal, the NCC encouraged the creation of Regional Competitiveness Committees (RCCs), composed of members from the public sector, private sector and academe, across the Philippines to regularly measure local competitiveness indicators, formulate programs to improve competitiveness, and engage in investment promotion activities to attract investors and create new jobs.

This new, significant record which Mati now holds paves the way to becoming the most business friendly city, not just in the Region but in the Country. Yet the challenge remains – to be consistent with its standard, quality and reliability of government services and support for effective and sustainable productive expansion.

Though Mati is thriving to be a competitive city, it does not take pride for its accomplishments because the LGU with the dynamism and enthusiasm of the present administration is just doing its part for the constituents. Instead the City Government of Mati headed by Mayor Carlo P. Rabat is grateful enough for the trust and confidence of the private sector in his leadership. (YPM CIO)
