KAPALONG,
DAVAO DEL NORTE, December 4, 2014 - Mayor Edgardo L. Timbol of this
town is all praises to the Association of Regional Executives of National
Agencies in Region XI (ARENA XI), headed by its president, DPWH Regional
Director, Engr. Mariano R. Alquiza who visited Barangay Gupitan
for its “Serbisyo Caravan” one stop shop service initiative last
Sunday, November 30, 2014.
Alquiza,
along with the Regional Directors and representatives of the different
national agencies of Davao Region offered their respective services to more
than a thousand IP residents of the said barangay.
As
early as 5:00 o’clock in the morning, Sitio Patil of Barangay Gupitan has
been flocked with its residents and those in the other sitios gladly and
patiently waiting for the ARENA team.
Mayor
Timbol in his opening message thanked the visitors for choosing Gupitan in
their endeavor to bring the government closer to the people particularly those
in the hinterlands who have less opportunity to avail their programs owing to
distance and financial incapacity.
Aside
from the ARENA team, Governor Rodolfo P. del Rosario, Board Member Shirley
Belen R. Aala and some provincial department heads and staff also graced
the event.
The
governor stressed that he is delighted to have visited the place after a period
of time and expressed his excitement of talking personally with the
barangay people.
The
caravan was highlighted with the doling out of various services from the
participating national agencies. Tilapia fingerlings were provided by the
Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) and food packs by the
Department of Social Welfare and development Office.
The
Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) provided indigenous
specie-seedlings while the Department of Agriculture offered high valued
seedlings, anti-rabies vaccines and nutritional supplement for pets.
A
medical and dental outreach services was also initiated. The municipal
government of Kapalong had its share of giving sports equipment to all puroks.
As
the caravan of services continued, Governor del Rosario and Mayor Timbol were
joined by the regional directors and their representatives and other
guests in the unveiling and launching of the proposed bridge construction in
the barangay amounting to 225 million.
A
consultation between the tribal/barangay leaders and the regional
directors along with Governor del Rosario, the Philippine Army 10th Infantry
Division commanding officer,Major General Eduardo M. Año and Mayor Timbol
ensued with Vice Mayor Ma. Theresa R. Timbol as the moderator.
Various
concerns were aired by the tribal datus and barangay officials specifically on
peace and order, electrification, potable water system, road rehabilitation,
farming facilities and equipment, school establishment, health services and
ancestral domain titles.
The
head of concerned agencies noted their requests and further assured their full
support as manifested in their signing of the manifesto of commitment and
support during the opening program.
On
the request of tribal datus for the Philippine Army of not leaving them, Major
General Año vowed that they will not leave Gupitan unless it is already
safe and free of lawless elements.
As
to farming equipment, Mayor Timbol bared that he will be deploying one tractor
and two corn shellersto the barangay particularly at Sitios Kimataan and
Maguimon. Other facilities will be taken cared of by the Department of
Agriculture provided that a barangay resolution and other required documents
will be submitted.
Vice
Mayor Timbol expressed her gratitude to everyone who inspired and brought
happiness to the barangay people despite of the distance and difficulty of
