DAVAO CITY, Dec 17 (PIA) The military formally launched is
gift-giving activity dubbed as Pinaskuhan sa Lumad 2014 at the headquarters of
the Task Force Davao at the Sta. Ana Wharf Wednesday.
Major General Eduardo Ano, commander of the 10th Infantry Division
graced the occasion by leading the ceremonial turn-over to Datu Ruben Labawan,
president of the Supreme Tribal Council of Davao City and witnessed by Colonel
Macairog Alberto, commander of the Task Force Davao and other leaders of the
indigenous communities and stakeholders.
Captain Mario Tena, civil-military operations officer of the TF
Davao said initial tranche of Christmas gifts will benefit 2,000 recipients.
He thanked several malls and kind-hearted benefactors for
supporting the gif-giving activity.
Tena said every food pack contains four kilos of rice, sardines,
salt and noodles.
“Areas under the 84th and 69th Infantry Battalions will surely
receive the Christmas gifts,” he said.
Tena said the TF Davao will also give gifts to the Badjaos and the
Moro communities along the Quezon Boulevard area.
Datu Labawan thanked the military and the city government for
reaching out to the indigenous peoples with gifts this Christmas.
He welcomed the gifts given to the IPs not only on the six
reception points but even those who choose to stay in the mountains.
Labawan said the initial
tranche of Christmas gifts will benefit the Tagabawa and Aeta tribes in the
