Panabo tries to find ways to curb crime in the city



PANABO CITY, Davao del Norte - The Local Government is working closely with Panabo PNP and other multi-sectoral groups in preventing and solving crimes during the City Peace and Order Council (CPOC) meeting last January 8, 2015 at the Conference room, New City Hall of Panabo. 

City Mayor Atty. Jose Silvosa, Sr. and also the Chairman of CPOC is gathering updates and reports of CPOC particularly the robbery incident of a Jewelry store in Panabo City that happened last January 7, 2015, Wednesday afternoon.

 “In crime prevention in Panabo City, the participation of the community and with the use of surveillance camera is important in solving crimes and in leading the suspects,” Mayor Silvosa stressed.

“Mas maayo na mag request ang mga pawnshop sa mga awtoridad kung mag auction sila para naay mabutang na pulis didto para maka monitor sa ilang area,” (Its better if the pawnshop would request to authorities during their auction so that they can put policeman which can monitor the area) Mayor Silvosa further reiterated to have additional police visibility in the business centers.

City Administrator Ramon Sawan added that community awareness on crime prevention is necessary. Moreover community’s active participation by way of timely relay of information to the police authorities on suspicious looking persons is a must.

According to Panabo City Chief of Police, P/Supt Roderico Roy, Jr., that around 2:30 p.m., six armed malefactors broke into Pag-asa Pawnshop and carted away P5 million worth of jewelries during their auction day. Using hammers, they smashed the glass display after disarming the two security guards on duty and fled with their two motorcycles.
