Panabo Mayor passes away



DAVAO DEL NORTE, January 20 (PIA) - - Mayor Jose L. Silvosa, Sr. of Panabo City died yesterday at about 3:30 PM due to cardiac arrest. He was 74 years old.

According to City Administrator Ramon Sawan, Mayor Silvosa was rushed at the Heart Center of the Southern Philippines Medical Center in Davao City yesterday morning after experiencing difficulty in breathing.

Sawan said that the mayor’s remains now lies at St. Peter Chapel in Panacan, Davao City until January 23.

He added that Mayor Silvosa’s body will be transferred to the Panabo New City Hall on Friday morning.

“On Sunday, a mass will be held at the City Hall before the mayor will be moved to their house,” he said.

He said that the interment will happen on January 28 at the Panabo City Eternal Garden.

The Panabo Eternal Garden was one of the pet projects of Mayor Silvosa, along with the Panabo Food Centrum, and Wet Section in the Central Market among others.

Meanwhile, Vice Mayor James Gamao automatically assumed as the City Mayor; while Councilor Janrey Gavina, being the first councilor, took the place of the vice mayor.

As of presstime, there is no definite individual to replace the slot of Hon. Gavina in the city council; however his position as the Provincial Councilors League representative to the Sangguniang Panlalawigan will be assumed by Councilor Tristan Royce Aala of Tagum City. (PIA11, Michael Uy)
