DAVAO CITY, Jan 22 (PIA) – Preparations are on for the forthcoming
Palarong Pambansa slated on May 3 to 9, 2015 in Tagum City, Davao del
Norte.
Governor Rodolfo del Rosario has personally supervised the
refurbishing of Davao del Norte Sports Complex which had been the venue
of various national competitions recently.
He said the DDNRC has to be on its top shape to ensure the safety and
integrity of the sports competitions which aim to produce quality and
world-class athletes for the country.
The Davao del Norte provincial government projected a total number of
10,000 athletes and officials during a week-duration of the Palarong
Pambansa.
As member of the Palarong Pambansa executive committee, Tagum City
Mayor Allan Rellon said he has formed a local committee that coordinates
with the provincial government of Davao del Norte for the preparations.
The committee has been organized to ensure the orderly holding of the
Palarong Pambansa this summer, Rellon said during Wednesday’s Biz Talk
at Big 8 Corporate Hotel, Tagum City.
He said values formation, peace and order, power, better water and
billeting facilities, refurbishing of sports facilities are the key
areas being focused in the preparations of the Tagum City government in
co-hosting the national sports event.
Rellon said a third batch of its 3,500 strong tricycle drivers is
undergoing values formation on proper dealing of visitors to ensure that
they treat visitors accordingly.
“It is like preparing our house for a big occasion. Physical
preparation and values formation are ensured for the comfort of the
athletes and officers from various regions of the country on the
duration of their visit,” the mayor stated.
He said that his administration will assume as a complimentary role with
Gov. Del Rosario as the host of the Palarong Pambansa 2015.
He
said that prior to the Palarong Pambansa, the city is also preparing
for the Araw ng Tagum, Musikahan and Tagumeno Bisag Asa also slated
during the first quarter of 2015.
Meanwhile, Roxanne Obregon, manager of the BIG 8 Corporate Hotel, a
new budget hotel will be open by then to cater visitors at affordable
