IGaCoS Mayor cites winning students



ISLAND GARDEN CITY OF SAMAL, January 29, 2015 - City Mayor Aniano P. Antalan lauded the eight students from various schools in Island Garden City of Samal (IGaCoS) who won first place and second place in the Regional Science Quest during the officials and employees Monday Convocation at Samal Gym, Brgy. Penaplata on January 26.

Division Science Coordinator Nover Intong  presented Regional Science Quest  contestants with their coach who bagged  first place  which include  Shiela Mae Saang  with coach Jay Nang from Penaplata Central Elementary School SC in Science Quiz –Grade 6 ,  Llycris Almedora with coach Ornido Mugat  from San Antonio ES in Sci-Dama Power Patrol (pupil category-Public), Rick B. Bustamante from Sto. Nino ES with coach Junelda Jaud  in Sci-Dama Water Patrol (pupil category-Public), Percival Villegas  from Samal National High School also won first place in Sci-Dama (Teacher Category). 

He also mentioned the second placers were Florenz Jade A. Intong with coach Emjie Marie Te  from Kaputian Central Elementary School in Science quiz –Grade 6, Jeziah Rabbi Salvar with coach Junit  Reyes from Nieves Villarica NHS in Science Investigatory Projects - Physical Science Individual, Armando Adlawan Jr. with Emmalyn Lagurin from Nieves Villarica NHS in Science Quiz 4th yr.  And Jesse Salvar with coach Mary Grace Franco from Nieves Villarica NHS in Sudoku.

Intong said that the winners  (first and second) were qualified  and the official contestants to join in the 12th National Science Quest on February 6-8, 2015 at  Rizal National High School, Pasig City.

Pleased with the performance of the students and teachers,  Mayor Antalan gave cash incentive to the students and teachers and assured assistance to their  participation in the national competition.

The local government supports the program of the Department of Education particularly joining competitions in various field since this will promote academic excellence and develop camaraderie and sportsmanship among students, pupils and coaches. (MTA Samal cio)
