Cacao demand bright for Comval

NABUNTURAN, Compostela Valley, January 29, 2015 - Cacao farmers and growers now have an opportunity to earn big as demand for cacao is soaring while its supply is fluctuating in the market, a Department of Agriculture (DA) official said.

Jeannelle B. Ellison of D.A. Regional Office XI said during the Enterprise Prioritization and Proponent Group Selection Workshop on January 21 at the Social Hall, Provincial Capitol, Cabidianan, Nabunturan, Compostela Valley that demand of cacao in the market is continuously rising giving opportunity for cacao farmers and growers to earn.

Ellison furthered that it is also a perfect timing for those who plan to grow and yield more cacao as its supply in the market is very low causing its price to increase.

Ellison was the resource person of the Organization Meeting of Investment in Rural Enterprise and Agriculture and Fisheries Productivity (I-REAP), a sub-unit of the Philippine Rural Development Program-Provincial Program Management and Implementing Unit (PRDP-PPMIU) of ComVal which was particularly constituted by Gov. Arturo T. Uy through E.O. No. 033-2014.

The PRDP-PPMIU, composed of different department and section heads led by PPDO chief Romeo Celeste, will spearhead the planning, assessment, coordination, and other preparations for the implementation of PRDP projects of the province. (james labrigas/ids comval)
