TAGUM CITY, Davao del Norte, Jan 22 (PIA) — Governor Rodolfo P. del Rosario personally supervises the construction of additional facilities in the Davao del Norte Sports and Tourism Complex in preparation for the 2015 Palarong Pambansa in May.

Yesterday afternoon (Thursday, Jan. 21), Del Rosario was seen roaming around the construction sites of additional football field, tennis and basketball courts.
“We are rushing the preparation to complete the necessary fields to cover up the events,” he said while pointing at the locations of the basketball and tennis courts and the football fields.

“The open fields are for archery and other small games,” he said in an interview.

He revealed to have spent time personally making sure that “everything is moving according to schedule” while also checking the progress of work.

“So we can correct it along the way. Mabuti na ma-correct habang maaga pa (It’s good to correct while early),” he stated.

Del Rosario revealed that all sports events of the 2015 Palarong Pambansa will be held in Tagum City, giving ease for athletes and coaches who won’t be traveling to other areas for their games.

While major events will be played at the Davao del Norte Tourism and Sports Complex located in Mankilam, Tagum City, other events will be played at the sports facilities of Tagum City which, among others, has beach volley field.

Batted games will be also held at the Energy Park in Apokon, Tagum City.
Del Rosario said that major malls in Tagum City have signified willingness to host Palaro sports such as Taekwando and other indoor sports.

Aside from personally overseeing the rushing of construction of additional sports facilities, Del Rosario is also closely coordinating the preparations for the Palaro with other cities and municipalities.

Aside from Tagum City (where the 2015 Palarong Pambansa will be held), Panabo City, Carmen, Sto. Tomas, New Corella and Kapalong will assist the province in providing billeting areas for the athletes, Del Rosario said.  (PIA-11/Jeanevive Duron-Abangan)
