COMPOSTELA VALLEY, January 29, 2015 - Around P106-million worth of
projects are now being completed in Compostela Valley under the
Kapit-bisig Laban sa Kahirapan - Comprehensive and Integrated Delivery
of Social Services – National Community-Driven Development Project
(KALAHI-CIDSS-NDCCP) of DSWD.
The Provincial Local Government Unit (PLGU) of Compostela Valley was
chosen as PLGU Local Engagement Pilot of the program, along with Albay,
having a total of ten sub-projects in the different municipalities of
the province.
Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Provincial
Governance Coordinating Team Leader Dolly Pascua revealed that the ten
NDCCP sub-projects in ComVal, which amounted to PhP 106,639,417, is now
more than 50% finished.
ComVal PLGU and DSWD have contributed PhP32 million and PhP64 million
respectively for the realization of the projects giving the municipal
LGUs little contribution for the projects.
The
KALAHI-CIDSS-NDCCP is one of the poverty alleviation programs of the
Philippine Government being implemented by DSWD. It is the expansion
into a national scale of operations of the community-driven development
(CDD) approach which was proven effective by KALAHI-CIDSS which started
