TAGUM CITY, Davao del Norte, Jan. 19 (PIA)---Five Korean Scouts are
in Tagum City to learn from their counterparts and to observe how
scouting is done in the city.
Tagum City Boy Scouts of the Philippines Council Scouts Executive
Rellene G. Dumlao this morning revealed that the Korean Scouts will be
staying in Tagum City for six days after spending the same benchmarking
activities in Baguio City, in Antipolo (Rizal) and in Calamba
(Laguna).
They are also set to visit and spend time in Davao City after exploring scouting in Tagum City, Dumlao said.
To start off their exposure trip to Tagum City, the Korean Scouts spent
their Sunday (Jan. 18) at the City Disaster Risk Reduction Management
Office (CDRRMO) undergoing a training on firefighting.
This
morning, they paid courtesy call to Tagum City Mayor Allan Rellon and
met with members of the Sangguniang Panglungsod of the city during SP’s
session.
They are also scheduled tomorrow to visit a public school in the city to observe how classes are being handled.
Apart from their encounters with fellow scouts in Tagum City, the
Korean Scouts are set to experience river cruising at the Libuganon
River promoted by the city government as a tourist come-on and that they
will be toured to Panas Waterfalls in nearby town of New Corella.
“Their visit has become an annual event since two years ago,” Dumlao
said explaining this year’s visit as the 3rd being hosted by Tagum
City.
“Every year they choose Tagum as one of the places (of their
scouting visits) because they have a very good impress of us,” he said
citing a letter sent by the Korean Scouts. (PIA 11/ Jeanevive
