STA. CRUZ, Davao del Sur, Jan. 26 (PIA) –
Private sector partners of the Mt. Apo Boulder Face Challenge have renewed
their commitment to support the International Mt. Apo Boulder Face Challenge
2015.
In a recent meeting, five perennial sponsors
have already signified intention to once again partner with the Local Government
to make the event more colorful and successful.
Aboitiz Power, San Miguel Brewery, Inc.,
Franklin Baker Company of the Philippines and Seaoil will provide cash prizes
to winners of the race.
Mountain Hardwear and ROX, on the other hand,
will provide uniform jerseys to the racers as official outfitter of the Boulder
Face Challenge.
Event coordinator Councilor Fernando
Ugdoracion expressed gratitude to these partners for being always supportive to
the advocacy of the municipality towards conservation and protection of Mt.
Apo.
“We are now on our 8th year in conducting this
event and with the help of our cooperators we were able to maintain a good
standing in as far as conducting this activity is concerned. With your support
in this year’s race there is no reason that we cannot attain our goals.”
Partners from the national government have
also renewed commitment for the event.
The Department of Tourism will be taking care
of the event marketing and promotions and documentation while the Department of
Environment and Natural Resources will likewise provide financial assistance.
The Provincial Government of Davao del Sur
said they will be part of this year’s race and will be helping the event by
initiating innovations through base camp activities.
There is also a new member of the pool of
cooperators of this year’s event in B+WISER (Biodiversity and Watershed
Improved for Stronger Economy and Ecosystems Resilience), a non-government
organization with existing program on Mt. Apo conservation and is funded by the
USAID. (CDIO-Sta. Cruz/Julius R. Paner)
