TAGUM CITY, Davao del Norte, January 13 (PIA) - - The Land
Transportation Office is collecting additional P-450 as payment for the
standard plate during the car registration renewal of vehicles having four or
more wheels.
Marietta Piccio, supervising transportation and regulation
officer of LTO based in this province, emphasized in an interview that during
the renewal process, their office will just receive payments for the new
plates.
“We will not be distributing new plates during the renewal
instead we will just accept their payment for it to be requisitioned to the
central office,” Piccio said.
Piccio said that according to the memorandum circular from their
central office, the plates will be available 45 days from the receipt of the
payment.
She also stressed that included in the kit of the new standard
plates is the guidelines on how to properly attach it.
“For January, all vehicles with four or more wheels that have
plate numbers ending in one (1) must renew their registration and pay the
additional fee for the new plate,” Piccio said.
She said that the registration of any vehicle not renewed during
their renewal period shall be considered delinquent and invalid, which will be
dealt with accordingly based on the penalties set under Republic Act 4133.
Meanwhile, Piccio also declared that their office surpassed
their 2014 target collection of P-50 million.
“Although the figures are still to be consolidated, I can now
say that we surpassed our target 2014,” she highlighted.
She said that averagely, their collection comprised 60% from the
registration, 30% from the licenses and 10% from the apprehensions.
“For December alone, we collected almost P-4 million, which were
mostly penalties,” she added. (PIA 11, Michael Uy)
