Tudaya hydro plant hits 1 million safety work-hours

STA. CRUZ, Davao del Sur, July 18 – The  on-going  construction  of  the  13.6  MW  Tudaya  Hydropwoer  Project accumulated one  million  safe  work-hours  in  it’s  more  than 300 days of construction.

With its partner JV Angeles Construction Corporation, the project attained this safety milestone, a clear demonstration of extraordinary teamwork and strong commitment to safety.

“We have reached this endeavor because of everyone’s effort of making themselves secured and safe. We prioritize the safety and welfare of everyone,” said Hedcor vice president for Business Development Gregorio Jabonillo.

A subsidiary of AboitizPower, Hedcor Tudaya, Inc. started the construction last August 2012 and is expected to be operational on 2014. No lost time accident had been recorded since then.

A lost-time accident is defined as an incident that resulted in a fatality, permanent disability or the loss of at least a shift or a day of work all of which were conquered.

Situated in Sta. Cruz, Davao del Sur, the project is forecasted to generate 76.5 million kWh every year.

Also,  the  project  will  be using the run-of-river scheme which naturally harnesses  water  from  the  Sibulan  River and its tributaries to generate clean  and  renewable  energy.  Once operational, the project will employ numbers of locals.

Hedcor, generates and operates 19 run-of-river hydropower plants in Benguet, Ilocos Sur, Davao del Sur and Davao City, with a total installed capacity of 155 megawatts. (PR/Hedcor)
