PANABO CITY, DAVAO DEL NORTE, February 2 (PIA) - - - The Commission
on Election (COMELEC) based in Panabo City cleansed voter’s list for
2016 National Election by at least 12,000 names.
City Election Officer Abdul Kader Tambuang revealed in a recent
interview that they deactivated the profile of 12,000 voters for failure
to vote twice and will be deleting at least 500 more.
Tambuang said that Election Registration Board will hold a hearing
for the deletion of records due to the death of the voters, multiple
registration by a single voter or transfer of residence to other city or
municipality, among others.
He said that due the cleansing of records, the total number of registered voters was down to 85,732 as of January 19, 2015.
“For the 2016 Election, we targeted to have at least 100,000 voters for the city of Panabo,” he said.
He said that the deactivated voters can still reactivated their
account by bringing any identification card issued by the government,
school or employer at the COMELEC Office or through any scheduled
satellite registration areas.
“If the person doesn’t have any ID, they can bring an affidavit
issued by a registered voter testifying the identity of the voter to be
registered,” he said.
He added that their office conducted satellite registration every
Saturday, in which almost 50% of the barangays were visited already.
Tambuang also disclosed that as per record, the city has around 4,300 voters that needed to validate their records.
“We already notified these voters for validation through registered mail,” Tambuang said.
According to COMELEC’s website, validation is a process of completing
the data of registered voters who have no biometrics data or with
incomplete biometrics data by capturing the same in the Voter
Registration System (VRS). (PIA 11, Michael Uy)
