DepEd says no need for public school-based personnel to report for work on Feb. 25

Public school-based personnel need not report for work on Wednesday, Feb. 25, Department of Education (DepEd) Undersecretary Rizalino Rivera said Monday (Feb. 23).

"DepEd would like to clarify that all public school-based personnel, including school heads, teachers, and staff, need not report for work on Wednesday in commemoration of the 29th anniversary of the EDSA People Power Revolution," said Rivera.

Personnel at the Central, Regional, and Schools Division Offices shall follow their regular schedule, he added.

On Sunday, Malacanang clarified that the 29th anniversary of the EDSA People Power Revolution that ousted the late dictator President Ferdinand Marcos in February 1986 will be a regular working day for employees in government and private offices but there will be no classes in all school levels.

"We just like to clarify that based on Proclamation No. 831 that was issued in July 2014, this coming Feb. 25 will be a regular working day for all workers, Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO) Secretary Herminio B. Coloma Jr. said.

"It will only be a school holiday and the regular course of work will not be affected. It will be a regular working day," he stressed. (PNA)
