DavOr leaders exhorts sportsmanship in DAVRAA 2015

DAVAO CITY, Feb 25 (PIA) Leaders of the province of Davao Oriental and Mati City challenged all players from various parts of Davao Region to show their expertise and maximize the know-how in training in competing for the various sports.

Davao Oriental Governor Corazon Malanyaon in her speech during the opening ceremony of the Davao Region Athletic Association 2015 meet at the Davao Oriental Sports Complex said that players must also show grace under defeat.

She said that coaches must take the opportunity of teaching the right values to players in handling defeat by being resilient.

Malanyaon stressed that Davao Oriental experienced being devastated by typhoon Pablo in December 2012.

“The province is now back on its feet due to the resilience, determination and cooperation among its people,” she said.

Malanyaon said that as it is, Davao Oriental is back on track to progress.

Mayor Carlo Rabat called on the players to use their free time properly by going around the beach resorts, the Subangan Museum and the good food at the Baywalk Park.

He also asked them to include the hash tag, “I love Mati,” whenever they post their pictures on the social media.

“It is our way of promoting our place as tourist destination,” Rabat said.

The Department of Education 11 has recorded a total of 3,699 athletes, 581 coaches, 599 technical officials and 95 chaperones in Mati City from other parts of the region to participate in the athletic meet this year. (PIA 11-Joey Sem G. Dalumpines)
