NABUNTURAN, Compostela Valley, February 11, 2015 - The Provincial
Government of Compostela Valley, after going through the devastation of
Super Typhoon Pablo, will celebrate its 17th Founding Anniversary and
8th Bulawan Festival on March 1-8, and assured that this year’s
celebration will be a grand one.
With Senior Board
Member Tyron Uy as the Action Officer, department and division heads of
the ComVal PLGU gathered on January 26 at the Provincial Capitol Social
Hall, Cabidianan, Nabunturan, ComVal to discuss activities and other
preparations for the five-day event.
With the theme “Rise and Shine”, this year’s Bulawan Festival will be
full of big events such as concerts, contests, food fairs, fun run and
other activities for all Comvaleños to enjoy.
The festival will commence with a fun run on March 1 and on March 3
will be a motorcade followed by an opening program. A Drum and Bugle
Corps (DBC) competition for both elementary and secondary. A GMA Kapuso
caravan will also be held featuring IyaVilliania, Empress Schuck and Tom
Rodriguez at 2 PM. Meanwhile, the DepEd Night will feature a broadway
competition among teachers.
On March 4 (Wednesday) will be the gathering of peacekeepers and
senior citizens in the province for the Peacekeepers’ Day and Senior
Citizens’ Day, and at night will be the Battle of the Bands.
The following day, Thursday, will be the Social Services Day to give
tribute to Day Dare Workers, Barangay Health Workers, and Barangay
Nutrition Scholars. At night will be the talent search
TalentadongComvaleño.
On March 6 will be the Youth Day with Sen. Bam Aquino and National
Youth Commissioner Dingdong Dantes expected to grace the event. A Jobs
Fair and PRC Processing will also be held on the same day.
On March 7 will be the Al’law ng Kalumunan or the Indigenous Peoples’
Day with GMA Network’s Chef Boy Logro while at night will be the
esteemed GarboComvaleño Season 6, a search for Compostela Valley’s
singing superstar with KZ Tandingan as guest.
On the final day will be the pontifical mass, grand parade, and
foundation day program with Davao City Mayor RodyDuterte. Also, a
Barangayanihan, Vina Morales’ concert and grand fireworks display will
highlight the closing of the festival.
With on-going activities such as the Retrato 2015 (Photography
Contest), food stall displays, and exhibits, several big political
personalities and celebrities are also expected to grace the weeklong
festivity.
Bulawan (Gold) Festival was first held on March 2008 to celebrate the
province’s rich gold deposits, its people’s heritage, history, unified
government, good harvests, abundant resources, and promise of golden
