TAGUM CITY, Davao del Norte, Feb 20, 2015 (PIA) Governor
Rodolfo del Rosario expressed readiness to the holding of the 2015 Palarong
Pambansa on May 3 to 9 side by side with the local governments of the cities of
Tagum and Panabo.
He assured that the
preparation is in full swing to accommodate the 15,000 athletes and officials
who are coming for the games.
Del Rosario said that his administration will make the
experience one of the most unforgettable events in hosting the games.
“We are following through what we are supposed to do. But more important is the support of the
local government units so that we will be in full coordination with the chief
executives,” he said.
Del Rosario stressed while the provincial government
provides the sports facilities, surrounding areas also need to provide the
billeting areas. He said the preparations are done according to schedule.
Del Rosario said that
the Department of Public Works and Highways is also tapped to ensure that the
beautification of the highway and smooth traffic flow between Davao City and
the cities of Davao del Norteto guarantee safe travel of the delegates.
Mayor Allan Rellon of
Tagum City gave his full support to the holding of the games.
He said the Palarong
Pambansa will just be one of the national events to be held in the city since
they are also preparing for the arrival of eight thousand delegates to attend
the Boy Scout of the Philippines national jamboree slated in October.
“We are one of these
endeavors since through the field of sports and scouting, we will show to our
visitors that it is more fun in Tagum City,” Rellon said.
He said 18 schools
are being prepared for the Palarong Pambansa.
Mayor James Gamao of
Panabo City also announced their preparation for the Palarong Pambansa by
preparing for two schools which will serve as billeting areas for the athletes.
He said repairs of the water system and comfort rooms are
going on.
The three officials formally forged an agreement expressing
their support for the national games this year.
