Panabo City renews drive against “bote-bote” Gasoline

Panabo City, Davao del Norte, October 5, 2015 - Task Force Kahapsay (TFK) confiscated again rampant selling of “bote-bote” or retailing liquid Petroleum Products in soda bottles, plastic containers, jugs and other similar portable containers not intended or suited for storing, handling and dispensing gasoline last September 24, 2015.

The TFK concentrated their operations especially at barangays  Quezon, Southern Davao, Gredu, New Visayas, Datu Abdul and Cagangohan respectively.

This was the second confiscation made by the TFK since it has been observed that illegal peddlers were increasing in numbers after the first TFK operation. Furthermore, there were feedbacks challenging the Administration of Mayor Engr. James G. Gamao to regulate if not stop such illegal activity for it threatened public order and safety, peace and justice. Thus, memorandum order # 871, series of 2015 was issued to curve such negative situation.

There were some peddlers who reacted that due to the difficulties in life (money matters) they resorted in illegal business of peddling gasoline… “maayo kaysa mangawat”. Anyway, this illegal business tantamounts to robbing the government of taxes and at the same time, depriving of potential income to those who are legally doing business. These legitimate businessmen are asking for justice on their part.

For in every privilege there is corresponding responsibility. Furthermore, gathering/impounding highly flammable/dangerous materials such as gasoline without safety standards is dangerous which will create trouble sooner or later threatening public safety (life & properties) and order.

Mayor Gamao wants a just, peaceful and orderly city   where Panaboans can truly be proud of and enjoy the fruits of development which they deserve. (CIO Panabo)
