DavOr lauds PNP, AFP for fight against drugs



DAVAO ORIENTAL, October 5, 2015 The Provincial Peace and Order and the Provincial Anti-Drug Abuse Councils of Davao Oriental have lauded the police and military forces here,together with other stakeholders against crime, for the successful series of operations against the illegal drug trade.

PSSUPT. Joseph B. Sepulchre, Provincial Director of the DOPPO, reported that from June to September 2015, the entire police forces of Davao Oriental have conducted a total of 23 operations leading to the arrest of 33 persons including some high-value targets and the confiscation of drugs with total market value of more than P15 million. He said cases were already filed against the offenders in accordance to RA 9165 or the Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

701st Brigade Commander Bienvenido R. Datuin, Jr., attributed this feat to the collaboration and unified approach of the military, police, and the anti-illegal drug task force. He said the agencies have increasingly merged that resulted to the success of the province’s anti-illegal drugs campaign. 

This was concurred by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency –Provincial Drug Enforcement Office, reporting that the converged efforts of all stakeholders have made significant impact in the effort of bringing the illicit drug trade to a standstill.

Meanwhile, the PDEA admitted that the illicit trafficking of drugs and the presence of strong criminal groups and networks are among the growing concerns and common problems encountered by government units around the country. However, in Davao Oriental, PDEA claimed that the drug situation in the province remains to be ‘generally controllable’ in comparison to other provinces and regions.

The PDEA added that with the continuous strong coordination and support from all law enforcement units, LGU’s can curb the illegal drug trade that will badly hurt the operation of criminal networks.

Governor Corazon N. Malanyaon lauded the efforts of all stakeholders, particularly the combined efforts of the police and military in backing the Provincial Government’s bid in stopping drug trafficking and rooting out criminal networks.

Highlighting the drastic impact of drug abuse to families and to the society, adding that drug problem is a serious threat to development and health, the Provincial Government ordered the military and police forces to intensify efforts in fighting crimes and promoting sustainable and effective measures to stop illicit drug trafficking and drug abuse.

She also encouraged everyone, particularly members of the PADAC, to help educate the communities, especially the younger ones of the illeffects of drugs. She says everyone has a stake in fighting the illicit drug trade. (PIO DavOr)
