Children present call to action to end all forms of abuses



Hundreds of children from different schools in Metro Manila danced the “Zumba” as their way of reinforcing their call to action to end all forms of abuse, during the ​”​Zumbata on Child Protection​”,​ ​kick-off activity ushering in the National Children’s Month (NCM) celebration held at the Skydome, SM North Edsa​, Quezon City ​over the weekend.

The event was also highlighted by the launching of the “Child’s Right to Write One Million Lapis Project” which underscores the right of every Filipino child to education.

Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Secretary Corazon Juliano-Soliman emphasizes the need for the government and communities to work together to protect children from all forms of abuse, such as child trafficking, child labor, children being used as combatants, corporal punishment and violence,

Previously celebrated every month of October, National Children’s Month will be held in November starting this year by virtue of Republic Act 10661, otherwise known as “National Children’s Month Act”,​ to commemorate the adoption of the Convention on the Rights of the Child by the United Nations General Assembly on November 20, 1989 and seeks to instill its significance in the Filipino consciousness.

This year’s theme i​s ​“Komunidad at Pamahalaan Magkaisa, Pang-aabuso sa Bata Wakasan na!” (PCOO News Release)
