COMPOSTELA VALLEY, October 21, 2015 – In
line with the celebration of International Disaster Risk Reduction (IDRR) this
year, ACF International and Save the Children Foundation opens the one-month
exhibit which opened on October 13, 2015 at the Capitol Lobby, Capitol
Building, Cabidianan, Nabunturan, ComVal.
This event is under Strengthening
Disaster Preparedness and Improve the Effectiveness of Response to Humanitarian
Crises in the Philippines, aiming to build safer and resilient communities
in the country, a four-year consortium project funded by Spanish Agency for
International Development Cooperation (AECID).
Bannering this year’s theme is “Knowledge for
Life #IDRR2015” which focuses on the traditional knowledge giving people an
escape to dangerous situation in times of disasters. These techniques such as
Knot Tying and Duck-Cove-Hold are presented through a photo exhibit. Also,
Information and Educational Materials are included in the photo exhibit for
giving people more know-how in handling emergency cases.
Miss Zarah Kathleen T. Alih, Program Manager of
Save the Children, Eastern Mindanao Program Office explained the vital role of
man’s innate knowledge in times of calamities.
The partners of this event are Province of
ComVal, Office of Civil Defense XI, DepEd XI, DILG XI, DSWD XI, and
Municipalities of Mabini, Maco, Mawab, Montevista and Pantukan. (Honeylyn
