The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said it is monitoring closely two low-pressure areas (LPAs) outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR).
PAGASA weather forecaster Aldczar Aurelio said the first LPA has been spotted at approximately 2,000 kilometers east of Mindanao while the other LPA is still too far away.
The first LPA has a 50-50 chance to enter the PAR, Aurelio said, adding that it also has a high chance to develop into s tropical cyclone while still out of the PAR since it is in the sea.
The state-run weather agency continues to monitor the two weather disturbances.
Aurelio said that for the month of July, three to five tropical cyclones are expected to affect the country.
The next tropical cyclone to come in will be locally named "Egay" -- the fourth to affect the country this year.
Meanwhile, PAGASA said the Inter-tropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ) continues to be the dominant weather system affecting the country.
The ITCZ, which is the thick clouds coming from the south of Asia, is considered a breeding ground for LPAs or potential cyclones.
With the presence of the ITCZ, Mindanao will experience moderate to occasionally heavy rains and thunderstorms which may trigger flash floods and landslides.
Light to moderate rains and thunderstorms will prevail over the Visayas, while partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated thunderstorms will prevail over Luzon, including Metro Manila. (PNA)
