Compostela Valley Province, June 1, 2015—The National Movement for Young Legislators
(NMYL) Comval Chapter headed by its Provincial Executive Committee Chair Senior
Board Member Tyron Uy is among those who are actively involved in the week-long
“Brigada Eskwela” from May 18-23, 2015.
Visiting several schools, the group
helped in the repair, clean-up and donated a total of 600 school chairs, a
much-needed facility where shortage of chairs is one of the perennial problem
in public schools.
NMYL visited Nabunturan National Comprehensive
High School (NNCHS) and Magsaysay National High School (NHS) both in
Nabunturan, Compostela NHS, Bongabong NHS and Napnapan Elementary School in
Pantukan, and Union High School in Monkayo, among others.
Under Department of Education (DepEd)
Memorandum No. 41-2015, Secretary Brother Armin Luistro mandates the conduct of
the nationwide “Brigada Eskwela 2015” also known as the “National Schools
Maintenance Week” from May 18-23, 2015 with the theme “Tayo Para sa
Kalinisan, Kaligtasan at Kahandaan ng ating mga Paaralan.”
Meanwhile, the provincial government under
Gov. Arturo Uy has been consistent in its support to “Brigada
Eskuwela” most especially with the “bayanihan” spirit alive in this kind
of undertaking. The governor has been known for applying the concept of
volunteerism as one of his strategies in government service.
Banking on volunteers composed of local
officials, government agencies, NGOs, teachers, parents and students, among
others, these “Adopt-a-School Program Partners” helped the school in
preparation for the school year 2015-2016.
Aside from regularly providing for additional
materials for paints, brushes, rollers, the province, this year, also gives 1
sack of rice provision to more than 400 public elementary and secondary schools
in Comval. (Fe Maestre /IDS Comval)
