ARENA XI Serbisyo Caravan to benefit 3,000 IPs of DavNor far-flung town



DAVAO DEL NORTE, June 18 (PIA)--- Some 3,000 mostly indigenous people’s from barangay Palma Gil, Talaingod, Davao del Norte will benefit from  the downpour of services from  member agencies of the Association of Regional Executives of National Agencies (ARENA) XI and cooperating private partners.

                ARENA XI member agencies will haul tomorrow a considerable number of goods and services which will be delivered  through the ARENA XI Serbisyo Caravan set at Sitio JBL, Barangay Sto. Nino in Talaingod, Davao del Norte.

                While  IPs, predominantly Ata-Manobos from Brgy. Palma Gil, are now starting  to converge in Brgy. Sto. Nino,   the caravan of ARENA member agencies will pull off from Davao del Norte Provincial Capitol ground at 6:00 a.m. tomorrow going to Brgy. JBL in Talaingod.

                A ceremonial turnover of goods and services to pre-identified beneficiaries will be done tomorrow, and that there will consultative dialogue with agency heads who are expected to answer public queries.

                Member secretaries of the Cabinet Security Cluster and other key national agency officials are expected to join the consultative dialogue.

                As of 2:00 p.m. today, ARENA XI secretariat has initially listed 30 participating national line agencies, local government units and non-government/civic organizations that will pitch in their share of goods and services for the 3,000 beneficiaries of tomorrow’s ARENA XI Serbisyo Caravan.

                The preliminary list of partners are the regional offices of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), the Department of Science and Technology (DOS), National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA), Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG),  National Commission on Indigenous People (NCIP), Civil Service Commission (CSC), Department  of Labor and Employment, Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), Department of Education (DepEd), Philippine National Police (PNP), Department of Agriculture (DA), Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH).

Others are  the   regional offices of  the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) , Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR),  Philippine Science High School, Philippine Coconut Authority (PCA),  Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR), Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA), Office of the Presidential Assistant on the Peace Process (OPAPP), Deparment of Health/ Provincial Health Office/ Municipal Health Office,  Public Attorney’s Office (PAO), Philhealth Tagum, Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP), Philippine Information Agency (PIA), Philippine Postal Corporation (PhilPost), 10th Inf. Div. of the Philippine Army, Provincial Government of Davao del NOrte, Municipal Government of Talaingod, Alpha Phi Omega Davao City Chapter, Mason Plumb and Level Chapter Club Region XI Chapter. Tagum Cooperative is also among the cooperating entities of the ARENA Caravan.

                DSWD XI  is  expected to turn-over checks for livelihood trainings; conduct supplementary feeding; provide on-site social pension and conduct on-site  4Ps (Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program) pay-out; distribute family food packs, wheel chairs/assistive devices, educational supplies; and turn-over KALAHI- CIDSS Pamana Projects amounting to Php 1.3 million.

                DOST XI is set to conduct technology livelihood demo, distribute 100 DOST gift bags, turn over 500 bottles  and 5 gallons of Tubig   Talino and  it will also conduct a symbolic turn-over for the Installation of STARBOOKS in Brgy. Palma Gil.

NEDA XI will conduct info dissemination, take part in the dialogue with the municipal officials and will distribute food and non-food Items. DILG XI will conduct legal and technical services while NCIP will offer legal counselling, will distribute school supplies, interview scholarship grant IP applicants and will turn over ancestral domain titles.

Other agencies will render the following services: CSC, legal counselling assistance  and processing of application on Civil Service Exam; DOLE, awarding of livelihood projects; paying out of Emergency Employment; DENR, distribution of 3,000 seedlings; DepED, distribution of assorted canned goods; PNP, area security and provision of  lugaw; DA, distribtution of various farm goods amounting to Php 301,300.00;  DPWH, provision of technical services and dental services; CHED, info dissemination on scholarship grant/application of sholarship and grant-in-aid programs of CHED; DAR, agrarian legal assistance; Phil Science High School, scholarship information dissemination drive;  PCA, info dissemination to coco farmers;  BFAR, fingerling dispersal  of 20,000 to 30,000 pcs. of Tilapia; TESDA, advocacy training;  OPAPP, distribution of educational kits  for grades 1 to 3).

Meanwhile the merged forces of DOH/ PHO/MHO will  deliver medical consultation, vaccinations, minor surgeries, malaria screening, family planning, immunization, pre-natal with mother-baby kits, cataract screening, dental services with oral hygiene kit, giving of food packs and other services.

PAO  is expected to conduct legal services; PhilHealth,  to conduct information of availment of the Philhealth membership; BJMP,  to provide dental services; PIA, to conduct media coverage;  Phil Post,  to provide transportation service for medical services while the  10th Inf. Div. of the Philippine Army  has  conducted of Needs Assessment Survey (NAS), provided security in the area, logistics,  and handled the physical arrangement.

The local governments of Davao del Norte and Talaingod has provided the accommodation of guests, logistics and handled other preparations while the Alpha Phi Omega Davao City Chapter  will distribute of 300 pairs of slippers , and that  the Mason Plumb and Level Chapter Club Region XI will distribute school supplies. Tagum Cooperative is preparing  lugaw good for 1,000  persons and vitamins for children.
ARENA XI  has been rendering Serbisyo Caravan targeting poor communities in distant places to bring government services right at the community level.  (PIA 11/ Jeanevive Duron-Abangan)
