NABUNTURAN, Compostela
Valley, March 2, 2015 - A total of 87 national and local projects are set in
Compostela Valley in 2015, a high-ranking official of the Department of Public
Works and Highways (DPWH) said.
Director Mariano
Alquiza of DPWH Regional Office XI revealed during the press conference on
February 24 hosted by DPWH ComVal District Office in Nabunturan that these
projects amounted to around PhP616 million.
Alquiza said around
PhP389 million of this budget is allocated for national projects which include
construction and rehabilitation of national roads and other infrastructures
while approximately PhP225 million is allocated for local projects.
DPWH ComVal District
Engineer Joselito Caballero said that 76 of these projects are already
completed while 11 of these projects are ongoing.
On the other hand,
ComVal Provincial Tourism Officer Christine Dompor said during a separate press
conference that Compostela Valley is a recipient of five tourism road projects
under the Tourism Road Infrastructure Project (TRIP) of the Department of
Tourism (DOT) in partnership with DPWH.
With an allocation of
PhP330 million, these TRIP road projects will be implemented this year which
are aimed at connecting hard-to-reach tourism destinations.
Dompor added the DPWH
will develop these road projects regardless of classification and said “even if
the road is a provincial or barangay road, the DPWH can still improve on it
thru the TRIP.”
Among the TRIP projects
in ComVal include the concreting of Nabunturan Public Market Road and the
concreting of Brgy Pindasan, Mabini Circumferential Road leading to Kopiat
Island, Lunod Island and Mabini beach resorts.
Also included are
tourism road projects that connect to the province’s major waterfalls such as
the Tagbibinta and Maranging falls in Maragusan and Tadja Falls in New Bataan.
Another road project would lead to the White Peak Mountain in New Bataan.
