Sen. Bam Aquino graces ComVal youth

NABUNTURAN, Compostela Valley, March 9, 2015 - Senator Paulo Benigno “Bam” Aquino graced the BulawanongKabatan-onan (Youth Day) during the 8th Bulawan Festival and 17th Founding Anniversary celebration of Compostela Valley on March 6 at the Capitol Ground and urged ComVal youth to get involved in activities for community development.

“Bilangmgakabataan, meronpotayongkakayahannagumawa ng pagbabago,” said Aquino adding that youth are always the first to volunteer their time and efforts during community affairs.

Aquino also stressed the importance of the role of the youth in community development by giving best practices of several youth organizations which made simple things have done great impacts in their communities.

“Di langpotayonagpapasayatuwingtumutulongtayo, tayorinpomismo ay sumasayatuwingnakakatulong,” Aquino added as he shared that people are most happy when they are kind compassionate to other people.

As he commended ComVal youth for its active involvement in different activities in the communities, the young senator also revealed some laws and bills that would empower the youth which include the Go Negosyo Law, Youth Entrepreneurship Bill and the SangguniangKabataan (SK) Reform Bill.

Revealing that the SK Reform Bill would change the organizational structure and qualifications of the current SK, Aquino called on ComVal youth to register as voters and participate in the upcoming 2016 elections.

John Lerry A. Misa, Chairman of the Provincial Local Youth Council (PLYC) of ComVal, shared in an interview that he was inspired by Senator Aquino’s message and hoped that more and more ComVal youth would become active in their communities.

Governor Arturo T. Uy, on the other hand, thanked the young leaders present for their active participation in all of the province’s undertakings and urged them to continue being helpful and active.

The BulawanongKabatan-onan is an annual event for youth leaders coming from the different youth organizations in the province to honor them for their active involvement in community development. These are the Pag-asa Youth Association of the Philippines (PYAP), Prov’l Youth Development  Council (PYDC), Comval Scholarship Program (CVSP)/SPES, 4H, Tribal and Muslim youth  groups. (jameslabrigas / comval ids)
