Panabo Mayor offers 1st SOCA to predecessor



DAVAO DEL NORTE, March 23 (PIA) - - With 65 days since his assumption of office, Panabo City Mayor James Gamao delivered earlier today his 1st State of the City Address (SOTCA) at the New City Hall Lobby citing the accomplishments of the late Mayor Jose Silvosa Sr.

Mayor Gamao described the late Mayor Silvosa as a man of vision and a believer of change.

“His tangible accomplishments served as the monument of his dedication to service, which exemplifies his love to the marginalized, the homeless and the poor,” Gamao said.

He said that among the accomplishment of the late mayor for eight years were the JoeSil Villages 1, 2 and 3; Gawad Kalinga village; construction of road networks; the new public cemetery named Panabo City Eternal Garden.

“His dedication has left an indelible mark in governance that posed a greater challenge for this new administration,” he said.


In his SOTCA, Mayor Gamao said that in health services, the city collected a total of 4,896 donors for its Blood Program, which was recognized as the National Sandugo Hall of Famer for 3rd Place City Category, including the champions for small and large barangay categories, which were barangays Buenavista and New Visayas, respectively.

In education, he said that the city, with funding from the Department of Education Central Office, allocated more than P 54-million for the construction and repair of school building and facilities; and acquisition of new school sites.

In infrastructure development, Gamao said that city developed more than P 101.8 million worth of road projects in 2014, which includes concreting, gravelling, maintenance, rehabilitation of city and barangay roads; and opening of farm to market roads.

Gamao said that in his first 100 days of administration, the city government will priorities the development of transport infrastructure, water system, economic competitiveness and stability through public-private partnership projects, upgrading of health services, equal access to education and relocation programs.
