PANABO CITY, DAVAO DEL NORTE July 21-- – Rescuers of the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO) and the Panabo Emergency Action and Rescue Service (PEARS) displayed their skills in the recent Monday Convocation by demonstrating actual rescue operation.
CDRRMO and PEARS headed by P/Supt. Augusto S. Quilisadio (Ret.) staged such drill in observance of the National Disaster Consciousness Month Celebration and conducted such activity as their way of sponsoring the Monday Convocation on July 14 at the City Hall Lobby, Brgy. JP Laurel.
Rescuers displayed their skills in a rescue drill by going up and down the City Hall building, carrying a dummy victim to highlight the National Consciousness Month which bannered the theme, “Kahandaan at Kaligtasan ng Mamayan, Pundasyon ng Kaunlaran.”
City Councilor Hon. Ferdinand Gocon, chairman of the Committee on Public Peace, Order, Safety, Security, and Anti-Drug Abuse, cited public safety and service as a way of gaining the trust of the people above uniform and salary.
He honored members of the CDRRMO and PEARS personnel who he revealed as honorarium-based employees but “they are ready to save other people’s lives before themselves.”
In the same forum, City Administrator Ramon Sawan said that the worst disaster “is when people don’t know the function, components and role of the Government including their own privilege and responsibilities.”
“It is even applicable to those people who are aware of the law still do not follow them such as driving without a helmet and smoking in public places,” said Sawan.
He further cautioned the people from following their own decisions which might be against the law, citing this as possible cause of disaster.
“If we follow our laws with the obedience to the will of God, we will have peace, harmony, and development in our City.” (CIO Panabo/jmda)
