LGU encourages Panaboans to vote for Vigan

PANABO CITY, Davao del Norte, July 24 – The local government of Panabo through its approved Sangguniang Panlungsod Resolution No. 223 series of 2014, encourages all the sectors of the city to vote for the UNESCO World Heritage City of Vigan as one of the new Seven Wonder Cities of the World.

Approved by City Mayor Jose L. Silvosa, Sr. on July 14, 2014, the resolution also reminds Panaboans that their active support to Vigan City will help her advance to the final round of selection and will give the Philippines a new special place in the global tourism arena.

Resolution No. 334 series of 2014 which states, “Earnestly encouraging all Panaboans in all sectors to support and to vote the heritage City of Vigan in its bid to be one of the new Seven Wonder Cities of the World”.

It was sponsored by the Chairman of the Committee on Tourism, City Councilor Renante Bangoy with the full support of the members of the 6th City Council of Panabo and the Sangguniang Panlungsod presiding officer,  City Vice Mayor James G. Gamao.

The historically preserved City of Vigan in the province of Ilocos Sur is among the 21 finalists of the new Seven Wonder Cities of the World along with Seoul, Perth, and Doha. Vigan stands as one of the most untouched cities since the Spanish colonialism, a “Living Museum” which marks a truly preserved tourist destination in the Philippines.

The prestigious search organized by the New7Wonders Foundation will determine its winners through votes cast on its websitewww.new7wonders.com/en/cities or by texting “VIGAN” to 29290777.
