500 participants expected in National MSME Summit

DAVAO CITY – At least 500 participants are expected to attend the National MSME Summit at SMX Convention Center here on August 20-21.

Apart from the micro small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), representatives from policy and regulatory agencies, financial institutions and banks, industry clusters and associations, academe, development agencies, and national government agencies (NGAs) are expected to be around. Some corporate leaders, investors, technology providers and innovators, and policy makers are likewise anticipated to participate in the two-day event.

The gathering, which is being organized by the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) and National MSME Development Council, is primarily geared towards capacitating the MSMEs further for them to continuously reap success, with the collaborative efforts coming from all stakeholders.

DTI 11 Officer-in-Charge Ma. Belenda Q. Ambi said that as there will be sharing of best practices from renowned successful entrepreneurs, the agency is keen about getting the participants more inspired to work for their own success.

“If we are into business, our ulterior goal is to become successful, to make it big in the industry where we are into. With this, we want to hear success stories, we want to get motivation from people who have experienced the downside of business, yet managed to hit success later on,” she said.

With the summit’s theme of “Philippine MSMEs: Beating Challenges….Accelerating Innovations”, innovative strategies will be highlighted as the country hurdles challenges especially with the implementation of the ASEAN Economy Community (AEC) 2015.

“We have lined up guests who are experts in their respective fields so that they can really share the best ideas or inputs which can definitely be of help to the MSMEs,” she said.

Ambi said that participants will surely gain a lot with just a minimal registration fee of P500 for two days.
